It’s that time of year again! Hour of Code kicks off during Computer Science Education week each year when teachers around the globe choose fun activities for students to learn about computer science and programming. Codementum has decided to run a fun and exciting competition during this week.

Rules and details

  • The competition will be held online throughout the World (Primary/Upper Elementary & Secondary/Middle School & High School) during the December 1-15, 2024.
  • Classes will compete in the competition.
  • Classes will have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 60 students.
  • There is no class limit. All your students can participate. You can create as many classes as you want and join with as many students as you wish.
  • The competition will be held through our Codementum Studio project, where we provide gamified coding training.
  • Challenges will be different for each level (Primary/Upper Elementary & Secondary/Middle School & High School) and suitable for the relevant level.
  • Challenges will consist of Basic coding knowledge, Repeat loops, Variables and Arrays.
  • Awards will be given separately for each category (Primary/Upper Elementary & Secondary/Middle School & High School). We can award the top three classes in each category.
  • The class that collects the most stars by completing 20 Challenges in the shortest amount of time will be the winner.
  • In the event of equality for code efficiency and the number of stars, time will be taken into account. In this case, the class that finishes in the shortest amount of time will be the winner.
  • The class competes as a team. Have the class start at the same time. Every student must log in. Everyone must complete the levels. The most successful class will win the competition.

We attach great importance to information security. You can register your students only with a pseudonym username. A valid e-mail address only to reach our teacher is sufficient.

You can join anytime between December 1-15, 2024.

Unfortunately, no. The aim of the competition is the competition of classes. You can join classes with at least 8 students.

Primary / Upper Elementary: 10 Challenges from the subject of The Basics and Repeat Loops, 10 Challenges from the subject of Variables and Arrays. A total of 20 Challenges. Even if you do not have coding knowledge, you can quickly learn with the documents we have prepared and participate in the competition. You can access detailed explanations of each subject in pdf form through Codementum Studio. We have prepared everything for you.

You can organize your students. They can participate in the competition at the same time with the computer they have at home.

Since it is a real coding competition, they should join with a tablet having a large screen, PC or Laptop. We recommend using Google Chrome or Safari for best performance.

The duration depends entirely on your students. You can consider that it may take between 30 and 60 minutes on average.

Yes, you can join with as many classes as you wish from the same school.

No. Since our contest will be online, you only need to have internet access.

Sign up for Codementum for free. Upload your students to the system in bulk. Your students' usernames will automatically become their passwords. Students can start the competition by logging in with the username-password information you have determined on Codementum. You will find helpful documents for adding students as bulk and other actions on the relevant pages.

When you encounter such a situation, you can reset your student's password. When you reset, username and password will be the same automatically.
